Local Hands & Local Lands is a soon to be a 401-c Non-Profit Organization that focuses on Good Clean Fair (From the Slow Food Movement) food.

Our Story

Roots

Started in 2026 by Andrew Schrader while attending Traverse City West Seinor High School, He was inspired by the Slow Food Movement and the text Slow Food Nation, By Carlo Petrini, He founded Local Hands & Local Lands with the goal of educating the community on sustainable and local food practices.

The Program is still in its early stages of development and is working to expand its reach and impact within the local community. If you are interested in learning more or getting involved, please contact us!

How We Work

Numbered Approach

Educate

Start teaching the youngest age to raise a new gastrome. and teach the rest and get them to be the new gastronome.

Use native crops, and practices to grow food.

Use IPM (Integrated Pest Management) to reduce reliance on synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.
